A Brazil passport means a legal visit
A Brazil passport (technically it's a passport from the country of origin and a visa for Brazil) is required in order to enter the country from the the European Union, Canada, the United States or Britain. The passport must be valid for a period of at least six months following the date of entry. Special conditions apply when the visitor is less than eighteen years of age and not in the company of both parents. In this instance, the child must have a birth certificate original or photocopy that has been authenticated. The certificate must be in the language of Spanish, Portuguese, French or English or there must be an official translation presented along with the birth certificate.
When the minor is traveling with one parent or alone, the absent parent or parents must prepare an official declaration which provides authorization for the minor to be traveling. The declaration must also include the name and address of the person who will be responsible for the minor during their time in Brazil. In the event that a parent is divorced or deceased, papers testifying to full custody of the minor child must be presented along with the Brazil passport.
Each traveler entering the country on a Brazil passport must also possess tickets that will allow them to continue on their journey or to return to the place of origin. The travelers must also be in possession of enough funds to pay for their stay in the country.
Brazil passport requirements are becoming more strict. Since January of 2007, all United States nationals entering Brazil via air must have both a passport for Brazil and a U.S. visa as well. Beginning in 2008, entrants to the country either overland or through a seaport will also require a passport and visa to Brazil. Visas can be obtained for single visits to the country of Brazil or for multiple visits, but the visas must be utilized within ninety days from the time the it was issued. Visits to Brazil from many other countries, including Australia and Canada require both passports and visas to enter the country. Ireland, the United Kingdom, South Africa and New Zealand require a passport but no visa to enter Brazil for business or tourist reasons.
Passport fees will vary depending upon the country and the speed at which the passport and visa is needed, with express service available in most places at an increased cost. Care should be taken in submitting application forms that the forms are signed and that required fees are included.
