Welcome to the wonderful world of animals in Brazil!
Animals in Brazil undoubtedly contribute to the country’s popularity in terms of tourism, especially ecotourism, but they are forever associated with the Amazon. Those individuals that are not well informed about the nature of the country, and the landscape in particular, simply believe that the Amazon is the only existing ecosystem of interest to provide a home for the animals in Brazil. That is simply not the case. Brazil has so much more to offer in terms of ecosystems and ecotourism that it is worth looking further into.
Brazil itself is fascinating in terms of the diversity of creatures that it has to offer. Animals in Brazil actually number greater than in any other country. That includes the Amazon of course. The National Park that is the Amazon actually boasts the most species rich biome in the world at the moment and the deforestation has done absolutely nothing to reduce that claim, as yet anyway! With over 100,000 invertebrate species and 2000 bird and mammal species, animals in Brazil are alive and well in that region! However, other areas are most definitely worthy of note! The Iguacu Falls National Park for example, also has its fair share of animals in Brazil! The jaguar, capybara, giant river otter and ocelot are just some of the forty species of mammal there without the other Brazil animals like the reptiles, fish, reptiles, birds and butterflies being take into consideration. This ecosystem is amazing because all of the animals live off the falls and its humid climate! With two distinct seasons, summer and winter, the ecosystem is stable and extremely rich in terms of what its offers the species that live there!
The other area of note in terms of animals in Brazil is the Pantanal. The Pantanal is also home to the giant otter, as well as the anaconda, capybara, Jabiru stork and various other species that are indigenous to the area. The Pantanal is a massive area of wetland that is bordered by mountain ranges and the Amazon itself. It is therefore no wonder that so many creatures prosper there and make their home permanently. The distinct climate helps them to settle in the area, and the abundant numbers on the barely touched central area keep the biodiversity of the area alive and well!
All of the above is an advert in itself for ecotourism because you can see animals in Brazil that you cannot hope to see anywhere else in the world. Brazil animals make the country, so it is about time that tourists and travellers started paying their respects!
